General Dynamics to Upgrade RST Vehicle for U.S. Marine Corps Operational Evaluation

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. - General Dynamics Land Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics, has received a $5.9 million agreement modification to upgrade its Reconnaissance, Surveillance and Targeting Vehicle (RST-V). The upgrade supports continued operational evaluation of the vehicle as a utility carrier, prime mover and electrical generator for various U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) applications. System capabilities will be demonstrated in a relevant operational environment in early 2006.

NCDR and Pennsylvania State University`s Electro-Optics Center Launch Project to Develop Sensors for Unmanned Military Vehicles

The National Center for Defense Robotics (NCDR), an initiative of The Technology Collaborative, today announced that it has signed a $1.25 million master sub-contract with Pennsylvania State University`s Electro-Optics Center (EOC) to develop lower cost, lower weight, less power-hungry electro-optical sensors for unmanned ground vehicles and to explore methods of manufacturing and testing them more efficiently and cost-effectively. The NCDR also announced that it has begun to sub-contract with southwestern Pennsylvania-based Agile Robotics Alliance member companies and organizations to undertake a number of key projects under the EOC contract.
