The Tatra KBV-12 Patriot, also known as the MATMMV (Medium Armored Tactical Multi-Mission Vehicle), was created by Excalibur Army, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Excalibur Czechoslovak group for its own funds.
The vehicle is based on the chassis of the Tatra Force 4x4 cross-country truck, which has an adjustable ground clearance, a central support tube, independent semi-axle axles with air suspension, which increases off-road mobility and comfort while driving.
The layout of the KBV-12 Patriot is conventional, with an engine compatment in the front and a crew compartment in the middle. The crew consists of a commander and a driver with the possibility of transporting up to four people in the troop compartment.
The vehicle is powered by a Cummins ISB 6-cylinder diesel engine with power of 210 kW, coupled with an Allison 3200SP automatic transmission with six front and one rear gears. This provides a top speed of 130 km/h and a range of up to 500 km.
It is also equipped with 14.00xR20 wheels with flat tires and a central tire inflation system (CTIS) that allows the driver to adjust tire pressure during driving. The vehicle can overcome vertical obstacles with a height of up to 500 mm and cross a trench 900 mm wide. A water obstacle up to 1 m deep can pass without preparation.
The welded steel cabine has a patented bolted design, which the company calls the "Kitted Hull Concept". It is provide ballistic protection up to level 3 STANAG 4569, and mine protection - level 2a / 2b STANAG.
Armament, as a rule, includes a remote controlled weaapon station (RWS) mounted on the roof, armed with a 7.62 mm or 12.7 mm machine gun or 40-mm automatic grenade launcher.
