Jaeger is a family of Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGV), which is currently being developed by the Kinetics Advanced Robotics division of ST Kinetics. The project started in late 2015.
The Singapore company demonstrated a sample of the 2.9 m long 8x8 UGV at the Singapore AirShow 2016, and later in 2018 at the same exhibition a version of 6x6 with a length of 2.5 m was presented. These chassis have low ground pressure and high off road mobility.
Jaeger is based on a commercial all-terrain vehicle with steering, although the company refused to name the supplier.
The robot is powered by lithium-ion batteries, which provide operation for four hours. The performance can be increased up to 24 hours when charging from an on-board electric generator.
The electric drive provides quiet operation and a maximum speed of 16 km/h with a fully loaded vehicle.
Jaeger can work in two different modes: remote control and semi-autonomous navigation. It uses an obstacle detection system with a laser installed in the front of the car, as well as a GPS unit. In the future, it is planned to add the "follow-me" mode
The robot is controlled by the operator control unit, which is "intuitive and easy to use". The control range is about 1 km.
Tan Kat Chui, chief engineer of Kinetics Advanced Robotics, said that his team is now installing a Remote-Controlled Weapon Station (RCWS) on UGV. It is armed with a 7.62-mm machine gun.
The 8x8 chassis has a payload capacity of 680 kg and can have a RCWS or ATGM.
