The Type 85 twin-23mm towed anti-aircraft artillery (AAA) is a Chinese copy of the Russian ZU-23-2. The weapon was developed for the export market and did not enter the PLA service. The weapon system is mounted on a two-wheel carriage, with two magazines each holding 50 rounds. The weapon uses a WPO-12 optical sight. The automatic, recoil-operated 23mm cannon fires the WPO44P high-explosive round with tracer or WB148P armour-piercing round with tracer. As well as engaging airborne targets, the weapon could also be used to engage ground targets.
