The Gavial is a modern and cost-effective 4x4 armoured multipurpose vehicle with excellent on- and off-road driving characteristics. The basic vehicle comes from an industrial cooperation with the French Panhard and is enhanced for the German requirements and internationally marketed by Rheinmetall. The Gavial is air transportable in the transport-helicopter CH-53, as well as in the C-130, C-160 and A400M. It provides protection against infantry weapons, shell splinters and anti-personnel mines. The vehicle’s huge internal volume gives enough space for various mission kits and the Gavial is able to carry a roof-mounted weapon station.
