The pre-production XM723 developed in response to the MICV 70 requirements still equipped with the 20mm M139 automatic cannon and coaxial 7.62mm M219 MG. Production models adopted by the US Army will be equipped with the 25mm Bushmaster cannon. Development experience with the PI M113A1 has resulted in a reduction in the number of side rifle ports from four to two in comparison with the XM765. The sloped side armor is reinforced with spaced steel buoyancy tanks. Note the additional road wheel.
