WMZ 551 6X6 Wheeled Armoured Vehicle has a fully automatic transmission, air-cooled engine, hydrautically assisted steering on the front four wheels, independently suspended wheels, axle double reduction and differential locking, central tyre inflation system,The vehicle is also equipped with the air conditioning system and a winch. It is fully amphibious due to the two shrouded propellers.
VARIANTS
Type 92 (ZSL92) IFV, 6X6
The Type 92/ZSL92 project was in response to the PLA's requirements for a new 6X6 wheeled IFV published in April 1987. It is the formal production variant of the Type 90/WZ551. After 30,000km road tests, the vehicle received its design certificate in June 1994, and entered service with the PLA in 1995.

Type 92A (ZSL92A) APC, 6X6
The Type 92A APC variant has a 12.7 mm anti-aircraft machine gun mounted on the roof of the troop compartment. The machine gun is mounted on a shielded traverse ring which can travel through 360°. Other features are generally identical to the Type 92 IFV. The two vehicles are deployed in combination by the PLA ground troops.

NGV-1 IFV, 6X6
The NGV-1 6X6 IFV is an experimental project for export market. The vehicle features a French designed one-man Giat DRAGAR 25 mm cannon turret, with stablised sight and night vision equipment. Auxiliary weapon include a coaxial 7.62 mm machine gun.

WZ901 Armoured Anti-Rioting Vehicle, 6X6
WZ901 is a specially designed variant to be used by the People's Armed Police (PAP) troops for anti-rioting and internal security missions. The vehicle entered service in the early 1990s.
