IWS (Industriewerke Saar GmbH) specialises in the overhaul, maintenance, repair, upgrading, modernisation and re-manufacturing of tactical wheeled and tracked vehicles. IWS, part of the DIEHL Group in Nurnberg, is one of the largest German civil maintenance and repair facility for the German Army and NATO Allies and was just recently contracted by the UAE Land Forces to modify the power pack of the M109 howitzers. Based the decades of experience, IWS has become a liable partner for the German Army and NATO Allies. More than 23,000 trucks, 4,500 armoured vehicles and more than 100,000 transmissions and 25,000 engines have been repaired and overhauled. Its main programmes for the German Army are related to the AIFV Marder, AVR Lynx, AGPC Fox, M113 APC and as far as truck are concerned Mercedes Benz, MAN and IVECO. IWS is the sole manufacturer of the new STW90 tanker trucks for the German Army. Current key programs with the US Army are the repair and overhaul of the M1 Abrams AGT 1500 turbine engine, the X1100 transmission, the overhaul of the M113 family of vehicles, the modification and up-grading of the M9ACE combat engineer vehicles as well as the repair and overhaul of heavy tactical trucks.
