MINNEAPOLIS -- Alliant Techsystems has been awarded an $87 million contract by the U.S. Army Sustainment Command in Rock Island, Ill., to supply various types of non-standard (non-NATO) ammunition in support of emergent requirements for Afghan National Security Forces.
ATK, in partnership with Allied Defense Group, has worked diligently to identify, qualify, and integrate a team of international manufacturers dedicated to the on-time delivery of quality non-standard ammunition.
Under this contract, Team ATK will provide the technical and supply chain management expertise necessary to mitigate supply chain risks that could impede, or prevent, the continuous flow of compliant non-standard ammunition to our Afghan allies. ATK will utilize capable international manufacturers and distributors with the ability to supply non-standard small, medium, large caliber ammunition and rockets.
"This award validates our pursuit of new international growth opportunities that are transforming ATK into a world class integrator of global defense systems," said Mark DeYoung, President, ATK Armament Systems. "ATK's supply chain expertise enabled us to offer affordable quality products from geographically dispersed regions to satisfy these emerging customer requirements."
ATK is a premier aerospace and defense company with more than 17,000 employees in 21 states and approximately $4.6 billion in revenue. |
