The internationally successful AM General Hummer chassis forms the platform for the MOWAG EAGLE 4x4 Armoured Reconnaissance Vehicle.
The lightweight EAGLE 4x4 is ideally suited for reconnaissance, surveillance, liaison, escort, border patrol and police missions.
The complete EAGLE 4x4 system comprises three main elements:
The modified Hummer "heavy" chassis, also designated as the HMMWV High-Mobility-Multipurpose-Wheeled-Vehicle.
The unique armoured superstructure designed and manufactured by MOWAG.
The armoured observation cupola MBK2, developed and manufactured by MOWAG.
Notwithstanding its armour protection, the mobility and relevant performances are equal to the original Hummer vehicle.
The EAGLE 4x4 is NBC-tight and provides four individual upholstered comfortable seats.
The fully equipped vehicle is air-transportable by C-130 aircraft or helicopter.
The dimensions have been kept identical to those of the original Hummer with the exception of the width, which is increased by approx. 100 mm. The superstructure offers comfortable space for four persons.
Built-in stowage compartments are provided for individual equipment.
All windows are made of bullet proof glass.
Access by four lateral doors for the troops and one rear door for the cargo.
The EAGLE 4x4 is field tested and presently in production for the Swiss Army.
The 360° rotating observation cupola, containing a thermal imaging unit, is located in the centre of the vehicle roof. This allows all-round observation in an NBC secure vehicle by day/night and under all weather conditions.
The ballistic protection requirement is met with the application of state-of-the-art protection technology.
Composite armour plates have been mounted to the inner face of the aluminium plates.
The EAGLE 4x4 meets the requirements for peace-keeping missions of UN-Forces.
