The Czech company Excalbibur Army first introduced its new TMG EVA 8x8 self-propelled artillery system with automatic loading of ammunition, which provides effective fire both directly and indirectly, in May 2018.
The TMG EVA is based on the 155-mm/52-cal Zuzana 2 self-propelled howitzer.
The 155mm TMG EVA is equipped with a 52-cal barrel designed in accordance with the Joint Memorandum of Understanding on "Standardization of elements of 155-mm howitzers and ammunition". The gun is equipped with an inertial navigation system and a radar for measuring the round muzzle velocity. On-board Fire Control System allows to work with digital cards. For direct fire, the gun is equipped with an sighting system consisting of a television camera, a thermal imager and a laser rangefinder.
Electronic equipment, diagnostic system and automation of loading and shooting operations make this gun one of the most advanced systems on the market.
For shooting, any standard NATO ammunition of 155 mm caliber can be used. Conveyor are universal for all types of projectiles and charges that are in use. In addition, any new types of rounds up to 1 meter long can be used. Another 12 rounds and 12 charges are stored in hermetically sealed boxes for ammunition, which are placed on the chassis.
The rate of fire varies: in automatic mode, 5 shells in the 1-st minute, 13 shells from 3 minutes, and in manual mode - 2 rounds per minute. The minimum distance to the target is 5 km; maximum - more than 41 km when using shells of the ERFB-BB type.
The energy of the main engine of the vehicle is used to supply hydraulic and electrical systems, both tower and chassis. As the chassis used Tatra T815-7 8x8 truck. The engine is Tatra T3C-928.90 Euro3, air-cooled, turbocharged, 300 kW at 1800 rpm with a maximum torque of 2 100 Nm at 1000 rpm. Transmission - manual TATRA 10TS210 (it is possible to use Norgren semiautomatic electro-pneumatic gearshift). The vehicle can move on speed up to 85 km/h, with a power reserve of up to 600 km.
TMG EVA is air-transported with theAirbus A-400M, McDonnell Douglas C-17 Globemaster III or, for example, IL-76.
