The Military Technical Institute (MTI) of Serbia, together with the Plant of Special Products of Namensk, developed a prototype of a military Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV), designated Milos.
Milos can operate at a maximum distance of 1 km from the operator.
For the first time the Milos UGV was presented at the Partner 2017 exhibition in a configuration with a remotely controlled weapon station armed with a M86 machine gun of the caliber of 7.62 mm developed in Serbia and an automatic RBG grenade launcher of 40 mm or 6 M-11.
The machine gun provides a maximum effective range of up to 800 m, and the grenade launcher can effectively hit targets at a distance of up to 400 m.
The weapon station has a 360° traverse with a maximum speed of 20°/s and vertical guidance ranging from -5° to 45° at speeds up to 10°/s.
The sensor unit is mounted on the right side of the weapon and includes a CCD camera with a wide field of view, a daytime low-level CCD camera, a night thermal imaging camera and a laser rangefinder.
Milos is equipped with steel tracks, but the option was also tested on rubber tracks. MTI reports that the UGV can be driven at a maximum speed of up to 7 km/h.
Milos has a total weight of 620 kg, and built-in batteries provide sufficient power for one hour of continuous operation.
To improve mobility, Milos has the ability to rotate around its axis - a design feature that is designed to increase efficiency in a confined space.
The platform has a total length of 1725 mm, a width of 770 mm and a height of 950 mm.
Milos is usually transported in a trailer equipped with loading ramps, and the operator control station is located inside the machine, which tows the trailer.
The typical role of Milos is to conduct reconnaissance of the battlefield, and it can also be used as an anti-tank weapon, although in the latter case it is necessary to replace the combat module with the ATGM.
