Kia Motors has demonstrated its Light Tactical Vehicle (LTV) test vehicles to the public at ADEX 2013 (Seoul).

The LTV is perfectly suitable for the efficient operation of armed forces for the changed situation for future war with its well-established technology and infrastructure from the long experience of commercial and military vehicle development and production.

As the concept of development, KIA Motors basically reflects strength and practicality and seeks for design differentiation, manoeuvrability, survivability and multi-purpose functions as the unique characteristics of military vehicle.

KIA Motors LTV is equipped with 225ps diesel engine, all-wheel drive, auto transmission, 4 channels ABS and runflat tire system that guarantees high mobility and excellent logistics support in any condition of terrain.

This next generation military vehicle might be produced in quantity since 2016. It is also being proposed for export customers.

Different versions of the Light Tactical Vehicle will be available:

• Armored Personnel Carrier (APC, presented at IDEX 2015)

• Multi Purpose Vehicle

• Armored Reconnaissance Vehicle

• Shop Van

The LTV has max speed is about 130 km/h with a range of 600 km.

KIA Light Tactical Vehicle is part of the third generation of vehicles constructed by KIA. The first generation, developed from 1977, was a localization of U.S. vehicle. For the second generation, developed from 1997, KIA mounted its own-developed engines and improved the performance of its vehicle. With the third generation, KIA is developing a Korean unique model.
