Mass
The cab mass (without crew and equipment) is less than 2000 kg, enabling the cab to be fitted to 4x4, 6x6, and 8x8 chassis variants.
Installation and Maintenance
- The standard Daimler Chrysler instrument panel, seats and steering wheel is used.
- It is possible to swap from a soft skin cab to a protected cab within hours, since the existing cab mounting, electrical and pneumatic interfaces are used.
- Acess to maintenance points on the soft skin and protected cab is identical.
- Cab tilt using cab tilting cylinders from Daimler Chrysler.
Other Variants
Other variants of the cab that may be offered includes a four door cab (5 crew members) with the same protection level, and a medium cab (9 tonne front axle) with increased length.
Testing
The cab’s mine and ballistic protection has been validated successfully. The vehicle and chassis has successfully been subjected to accelerated durability testing on test tracks in South Africa.
