It was put on display for the first time at Eurosatory 2008. It is one of the contenders for the replacement of the VAB, also made by Renault, around 2020.

This high mobility vehicle has been designed to incorporate a variety of protection kits depending on the mission's needs to defeat Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), ballistic threats, mines, Rocket-Propelled Grenades (RPGs), and Explosively Formed Penetrators (EFPs).
The AMC's rear compartment is intended to accommodate a squad (8 to 10-man) of fully equipped infantry troops.
The AMC 6x6 variant has a basic combat weight of 18t and can accommodate eight troops and a crew of three-man.
The AMC 6x6 is the smaller version of the AMC vehicle family. It can be adapted for amphibious and arctic climate operations.
