AVePS (Active VEhicle Protection System) is a fully autonomous protection system for armored vehicles against shoulder-fired anti-tank weapons (e.g. RPGs) and guided missiles (ATGM). Approaching projectiles are detected and engaged using blast grenades at sufficient distance. The grenade is fired from a highly agile launcher which can be aligned extremely rapidly.
Due to the system‘s modular design, sensors (radar, IR) or soft-kill countermeasures (e.g IR jammer) can be integrated in the system architecture and the system can be connected to other countermeasures such as weapon stations via the Battle Management System (BMS) or C4I systems. In addition to the system‘s protective function, the sensors also enable reconnaissance of the vehicle environment.
