Late in 1994, Pacific Scientific announced that it had developed TRIODIDE™, a substance that tests indicate can replace on a drop-in basis, now banned, fire suppressants (halons) across a broad spectrum of applications.

This substance is expected to have an essentially zero effect on global warming and the earth's ozone layer.

TRIODIDE is the trade mark for fluorocarbons whose extinguishing effect is fully comparable in equal volumes with that of halons.

Trials have shown that the new substance consistently extinguishes fires in volumes equal to or even less than those required for halons to do the same job. It has also demonstrated Halon-like performance in tests of explosion inertion and suppression.
