General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products, a business unit of General Dynamics, was awarded an $18.4 million contract from U.S. Army Tank Automotive Command, for the production of M2HB machine guns. Total contract value could reach $27.6 million if all options are exercised. The M2HB crew-served 12.7mm machine gun features a rate of fire of over 450 rounds per minute and a maximum effective range of 2,000 yards. Its high level of lethality and versatility has made it the world standard in its class. Production work will be performed at General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products' Saco, Maine, facility, which has manufactured the M2 Machine Gun since 1979. Program management will occur at the company's Burlington, Vt., facility. |
